James (be) married and he (live) in London.

Last week he (go) to Oxford on a business trip.

His mother-in- law lives in Oxford and he was going to stay at her house.

The night before he (go) to a party and he (drink) too much.

He (wake up) at 11 o’clock and he (feel) terrible and (yell) at his wife.

He (get up), (dress) quickly and (leave) the house.

James (run) all the way to the station and there he (see) a beautiful young girl on the platform.

She was going to Oxford by train too.

They (get) in the same compartment and (talk) all the way to Oxford.

When James (get) to Oxford, he (go) straight to his mother-in-law’s house.

His mother-in-law (be) a big domineering person and James (loathe) her.

All the same James (have) a present for her in his suitcase.

However, when James (open) his suitcase, he (see) that it (be) full of ladies’ underwear.

Poor James had taken the girl’s suitcase by mistake.
